blog post 1, It isn't perfect and I'm okay with that.
“If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done.”
Ecclesiastes 11:4 (The Living Bible)
Hello and welcome to the HELD life & health coaching blog!
It has taken me some time to create this first post. Do you want to know why? Perhaps you already have met my nemesis, that annoying creature that shows up every so often called ‘Perfection’. I hesitated for months to write a post, any post because I believed it needed to be perfect and needed to convey just the right thought and vibe.
Let me promise you, I do not wish for this space to be completely messy or unintentional, but I also have come to realize as I work on myself (yes, coaches still have plenty of work to do in their own lives!) that I will never get started if I don’t just start!!
Let’s talk for a minute about perfectionism. What makes you feel the need to have things done perfectly? Is it fear? If so, what is it a fear of? Is it a harsh judgment you place on yourself? Is it a voice of judgment that plays for you like a record on repeat that has come from others in your past or even currently? Fear and judgment do not sound like positive elements. They don’t sound very helpful or motivating, do they?
While some people may think that these forces are drivers to push them to do their very best, they can be unhealthy and the results that come from these “motivators” may never truly satisfy. One might continue to question if they truly did their best. They might only be able to see the elements that were less than perfect and lose sight of all that did go exactly as planned or even better! Imagine the stress that comes from never being at peace. Imagine being unable to celebrate the successes along the way! Maybe you can more than imagine having no peace or joy of success, perhaps that describes you well.
Today, let’s ask ourselves what we are so afraid of. Let’s ask ourselves if this is how we want to live. Let’s ask ourselves what that voice is that tells us we can’t do it, we aren’t good enough, or we can’t do it well enough. I can assist you in understanding that frenemy and how to put it in its proper place.
What are you being held back from accomplishing or feeling? There is a rich and fulfilling life for you to live!! I would be deeply honored to help you find it!
